Girl talk: "Now you have grown up, my dear"

-Ma, I want to tell you something?

-What?

- Today in the school something happened.

- Anything serious, Mimi?

- I just do not know. But it's kind of unsettling.

-Whatttt? You do not know? What is it? Did the geography Miss say anything again?

This time the "whatt" was much louder and it almost scared the hell out me, as I was already very nervous since the time that incident happened in the school.

- No, nothing of that type. It is kind of scary.

- Then what is it? What happened to you then?  Please.

Mother was seriously anxious to know the matter. A bit  impatient too. Her eyebrows drew closer. Furrows widening on the forehead.

- When I was in the restroom today in the school, I saw a few blobs of red ....
...
..
The furrow on her forehead released and slowly converted into soft grin on her face. The conversation in fact did not end there. It went far longer till I felt reasonably comfortable to reconcile myself with the new found girlhood.

The above conversation took place between me and Ma around two decades back. That was also the day when she told me about the word called "menarche" which I should never forget due to its uncommon pronunciation.

Today is such a day for my niece.

Mimi,
Very nicely written. My case was pretty different than yours. I waited and waited because my mom was sort of very conservative woman and I though I was cursed and stuff like that. I in fact cried my heart out in private, but when I spoiled the bed-sheet that I sleep on, my mom took me away to another room to explain the matter to me. She was talking in a way that, may be, it is the bad luck of the women species.

Just hit on your weblog accidentally. Nice writing.

Dear Archana,

The name of the wimp is GB. You can think him a pimp even, who touts for his mother.

He had an issue with me. Now he chose to attack me the most cowardly way, slinging mud from behind the disguise of`anonymity'.

Now I can very well delete the comments. But why should I? At least here you will be able to see the real person. The real face without any cosmetic.

This blog is different in that way. It is difficult to put me off by "kacha khishti". Keep visiting. I shall feel encouraged to belt out more interesting stuff.

have you discovered the word's rhyme with monarchy?

Mimi, I think it is time you enabled comment moderation. Enough.

Anonymous: Good one. How about rhyming with "yarki" as in Bengali.

@KS: I tell you KS, those glorious bastards, proxy or real, even if cloaked in anonymity, are going to get lessons of their life times. Let them bleed to death.
